It’s ‘candle lit hours’ at La Fromagerie this Valentine's Day - rather than the darkest hours. This year we have taken inspiration from Churchill’s Cook, Mrs Landemare, the “celebrity cook” of her day; she specialised in feasts for England’s nobility.

Winston Churchill, known for dining at the best restaurants, said:

‘I am easily satisfied, I like the best’.

Churchill was borne out by his expensive tastes in champagne (Pol Roger), cognac (Hine), cigars (Romeo y Julieta), tailors (Turnbull & Asser), bootmakers (Lobb) & hatters (Lock & Co).

Needless to say, he was very particular about his food.

It is well to remember,’ he said, ‘that the stomach governs the world.’

Our Valentines menu features some of Churchill’s favourite dishes all inspired by

 ‘Churchill’s Cookbook’ by Georgina Landemare

As with all our Valentine's suppers, it’s not really for those in search of a quiet romantic evening … guests are seated mainly on long communal tables - All rather convivial & good fun.

Perfect for groups & couples alike. We will be playing lovely old tunes from the 40’s including a bit of big band & swing!
