Product information:

Enjoy a virtual cheese tasting from the comfort of your own home. We will send you a cheese box containing five cheeses and email you a video link. Max Melvin, our Senior Cheesemonger, will talk you through the cheeses we have selected and  why they are particularly good at this time of year. A great way to spend an evening!

The Cheese Box will contain:

  • 5 x 80g (approx.) of artisan cheeses (unless small individual unit)
  • Two packets of La Fromagerie Biscuits for Cheese
  • Set of Tasting Notes

Max Melvin has chosen five fabulous cheeses for you to enjoy throughout Spring:

CHABICHOU, POITOU-CHARENTES | Unpasteurised Goat's Milk - Half a unit.
A soft, fresh tasting cheese, shaped like a gently tapered cylinder. The texture is smooth yet quite close-textured. Produced traditionally with a lovely aromatic rind.

ST JUDE, SUFFOLK | Unpasteurised Cow's Milk - I unit
The milk is slowly & gently turned into curds with little intervention - simply lifting the curds & ladling into moulds, turning daily until ready for sale.

SALERS, AUVERGNE | Unpasteurised Cow's Milk
A semi-hard uncooked pressed cheese with a dry natural rind scattered with red and orange patches. The pate is a rich golden colour. Made by one of only several remaining producers in extremely small batches in wooden vats, this a farmhouse cheese in the truest sense.

GUBBEEN, COUNTY CORK | Unpasteurised cow's milk
The micro climate of this region produces some fine examples of washed rind cheeses, & this one is no exception. Giana Ferguson’s cheese is made with pasteurised cow’s milk now using vegetable rennet, but still has the supple springy texture, with the wrinkled washed rind quite firm to the touch.

REGALIS, MIDI-PYRÉNÉES | Thermised Ewe Milk
The mountain caves of the Midi-Pyrénées straddle the border with Spain, and while this blue is somewhat like Roquefort, the distinction is the wax coating, allowing the sweet milky whey to remain in the cheese, softening the sharp minerality into a richer, sweeter, and floral taste.

We have chosen the perfect wines to accompany this board. See below under Pairs Great With.
