Made by Marco Donati for the Maso Donati in Ezzocorona-Campo Rotaliano vineyards, Trentino 100% Pinot Noir grapes. The cool mountain air, with the vineyards nestling beside rocky cliff faces, means that this notoriously capricious grape variety can ripen in ideal conditions. Sometimes there can be an austere element to the taste, but this wine has a softer than usual character, with a smooth blackcurrant 'bitterness' to the finish. The aromas coming through are wild cherry and currant and the deeply red and purple colour is very attractive. To be enjoyed with homemade soups, red and white meats and particularly braised or boiled meats. One of my favourite wine styles for drinking in the year of production
