Farmhouse cheese quite unlike the usual mass produced cheeses seen commercially. The Boerenkaase is two years old and the extra-matured is four years old. The two year cheese is smooth, mellow with a little salty grittiness and tasting deep and nutty. The four year has a dark ochre rind and the cheese is a beautiful dark colour and the texture is grainy wherein the fruity caramelized flavours give your tastebuds a real boost. Lovely when used as a breakfast cheese or for snacks as well as part of a classic cheeseboard selection.
