Chateau Le Roc wine makers, Jean-Luc and Frederic Ribes, hail from Fronton, about 25 miles north of Toulouse on the left bank of the Tarn river. A region renowned for its fine food, wine and of course cheese.
We have enjoyed Le Roc on our wine list, paired with our cheeses, for nearly 15 years and we are delighted that the wine makers will be joining us for a very special tasting supper, when we will feast on all the classics from the SW region, accompanied by the Chateau Le Roc Wines; white, rosé and robust red.
We chose Chateau Le Roc as our 'house' wine as it epitomises the quality of regional fare served at La Fromagerie, in particular how well it complements so many of our matured farmhouse cheese.
The cuisine of this area of SW France has much in common with Gascony, Dordogne and Perigord. So for this evening we will be enjoying a glass of sparkling Crémant de Bourgogne with Pousse Rapière, followed by spring asparagus with poached hens egg & summer truffle, a main of leg of lamb roasted with lots of herbs and whole heads of Toulouse pink garlic along side duck fat roast potatoes and spring vegetables.
A classic South West cheese plate will be tutored by Patricia with the Le Roc Red finishing with a delicious dessert of Almond Galette and new season strawberries.
For those who love the fragrant scent of Toulouse violets we will have violet tea from Jardin d'Elen accompanied by violet laced bitter chocolate truffles or Café de Noix, Le Piatagioni Coffee with a walnut liqueur topped with whipped cream.
